The Baltic Culture Fund Set to Announce Upcoming Competition

5 December 2024

Starting in 2025, the Lithuanian Council for Culture will take over the management of the Baltic Culture Fund, including tender management and grant distribution, for a period of three years. We intend to open a call for applications in January 2025, with applications accepted until 22 February 2025.

“We have finally gotten the opportunity to manage the Baltic Culture Fund in Lithuania and we are nearing the end of the first cycle. We trust that the gained experience and the enhanced collaboration between Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian cultural initiatives will help further the Fund's efforts and foster closer cooperation in achieving the overarching goal of promoting Baltic culture internationally. We are now eager to begin this three-year process aimed at ensuring efficient management and smooth communication, aligning with the principles and expectations of all three Baltic States,” says the Chair of the Lithuanian Council for Culture Asta Pakarklytė.

Funding and Submission of Applications

The Fund is focused on enhancing cultural collaboration among the Baltic States and boosting the international presence of Lithuanian, Estonian, and Latvian culture through joint cultural projects and events. Projects can receive funding ranging from €25,000 to €100,000, with applicants required to have self-financing and/or co-financing of at least 20% of the total project budget. Applications are open to legal entities registered in any of the Baltic States, as long as the project includes partners from all three countries.

Requirements and Evaluation

The applications in English will be evaluated by a six-member Expert Committee, with two members from each Baltic country. The Fund supports projects in the fields of architecture, visual arts, design, literature, music, performing arts, libraries, museums, and archives.

About the Baltic Culture Fund

The Baltic Culture Fund has been active since 2019, each year providing funding for international projects that enhance the cultural connections and international presence of the Baltic States. The Fund is managed on a rotating basis by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, the Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation, and the Lithuanian Council for Culture, based on a three-year cycle. Starting in 2025, the Lithuanian Council for Culture will manage the Fund, and applications will be accepted once a year. The calls for applications will be held in 2025, 2026, and 2027.
