In 2022, the Lithuanian Council for Culture received 1 654 applications by cultural and artistic creators for the competition for individual grants. After the administrative check, 1 649 initiatives of culture and art creators are forwarded for evaluation to the experts of the Lithuanian Council for Culture.  

The largest number of applications came from creators of music (435), art (268), literature (225), interdisciplinary art (177), and theatre (138). Representatives of design submitted 96 initiatives, ethnic culture and folk art – 86, photography – 81, and cultural heritage – 68. The smallest number applications was received for the fields of dance (33), circus (15), architecture (13), museums (13), and libraries (6). 

Although the number of applications received this year was less than half of that in last year, it is still almost three times more than in the pre-pandemic period. Prior to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the Lithuanian Council for Culture received 635 applications from culture and art creators and awarded an average of 252 individual grants. In 2021, 3 288 applications were submitted and 799 individual grants for 3–6 month were awarded. 

It is planned to allocate EUR 1.6 million for next year’s individual grants. The results of the individual grants are scheduled to be announced at the end of this year.
