Head of the Administration of the Lithuanian Council for Culture has been appointed

At the end of September, Rūta Stepanovaitė, Cultural Manager, will take up the office of Administrative Director of the Lithuanian Council for Culture.

Rūta Stepanovaitė, who graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts with a degree in Applied Graphics, has been managing Kaunas Artists’ House for the past four years, is a member of the Board of the Association of Cultural Managers, and leads various cultural and art projects. She is currently studying for the Master’s Degree in the Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship Programme at Kaunas University of Technology.

“I am joining the Lithuanian Council for Culture with my diverse experience in cultural management and administration I have gained over the last seven years from managing a budgetary cultural institution and a public one, participating in expert working groups and leading or initiating projects of various scopes. In the middle of my work are the management of knowledge and data-driven change, the development of cultural and social innovation, and the availability of content and information to different communities and their members. I appreciate the working environment of the Lithuanian Council for Culture, which is dynamic and open to change, and at the same time I am pleased with the confidence expressed by the Chairperson and the team of the Council, the opportunity to jointly carry out smooth and transparent activities of the organisation, while using the accumulated experience”, says Stepanovaitė.

Asta Pakarklytė, Chairperson of the Lithuanian Council for Culture, is pleased with the renewal of the institution and the reinforced team: “This summer was marked for the Lithuanian Council for Culture by intense changes: a new composition of the Council together with the Chairperson started working together at the beginning of the summer, and a fresh director of the administration was elected at the end. In other words, the entire decision centre of the organisation was renewed. We are eagerly looking forward to the start of the work of the Director of Administration, which will be full of challenges, but we have no doubt that Rūta will overcome them because she is an experienced cultural manager and administrator, an implementer of various innovations and systems”.

The administration of the Lithuanian Council for Culture currently employs 26 administrative officers and 190 experts evaluating applications. Each year, it funds an average of 778 scholarships and more than 2000 cultural and artistic projects, for which an average of EUR 17.5 million is allocated.
